Sixty five high school students from Berkeley Springs High School in Berkeley Springs went to see the Shepherd University Theater production of Orlando by Sarah Ruhl. The production is based on the novel by Virginia Woolf and touches on issues of love and gender identity. After the production the met with the acting company and had a question and answer session. There are a couple of pictures attached including one of all of them sitting on the set.
The same group of students went to Washington D.C. to see the Broadway production of My Fair Lady. Prior to the production they had a tour of the Kennedy Center. There are pictures of them on the chartered buses and at the Kennedy Center.
Quotes from students who attended the show at the Kennedy Center.
That day was definitely one of the best days of my life. I have no criticisms of the show or anything at all.
I was very amazed by the whole play because it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. It was a lot better. I loved the tour. I was so amazed and thought everything was so beautiful. I loved everything.
I enjoyed everything about the Kennedy Center. I couldn’t stop smiling. I also got to live out one of my dreams: wearing a puffy dress and walking down a long stairwell that is covered in red carpet.
The music of the play was beautiful, and fit each scene or emotion truly well.
I loved the play! I love musical theater and I had chills the ENTIRE time. I really liked the art that was in the Kennedy Center. It was very unique and pretty.
